EV Charging Gun Cable Project Sourcing Guide

A project buyer should manage an AC charging gun cable as a controlled product release, not as a one-line connector purchase. The following sequence keeps technical, commercial and quality decisions connected.

Stage 1: requirements

Define connector direction, AC mode, current, voltage, phase, target power, cable length, termination, environment, vehicle and EVSE context, market and quantity.

Stage 2: model review

Ask the supplier to separate confirmed specifications, assumptions and open questions. Request the current datasheet, images of both ends, accessories, packaging assumptions and document scope.

Stage 3: sample validation

Test mechanical fit, latch, termination, charging start, stable operation, interruption recovery, release and cable handling on representative equipment. Record the model and revision.

Stage 4: production release

Approve the sample, drawing or specification, labels, packaging, inspection points, quantity, lead time and shipment documents. Keep the approved packing record with the order.

Stage 5: after-sales handoff

Capture model, revision, batch, vehicle, EVSE, error behavior, environment and photos for any issue. Use the same record to define spare and replacement boundaries.
