EV Charging Gun Cable Sample Validation Plan
A sample should be validated as a complete charging path, not only as a connector that fits. Record the exact cable model, revision, charger, vehicle, environment and test result so the approved sample remains linked to production.
1. Confirm sample identity
- Model name, part number and revision
- Connector direction and equipment-side termination
- Current, voltage, phase, length and cable construction
- Labels, accessories, packaging and approved artwork
2. Check mechanical behavior
Inspect insertion, latch or lock engagement, release force, strain relief, bend behavior and cable routing. Confirm that the cable can be stored and handled without stressing the connector or termination.
3. Check the charging session
Use a representative wallbox or EVSE and vehicle. Record session start, stable operation, interruption recovery, stop, release and any error behavior. A pass on one equipment pair must not be presented as universal compatibility.
4. Record evidence
| Record | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Model and revision | Prevents similar variants being mixed |
| Charger and vehicle | Defines the tested equipment pair |
| Electrical target | Links the result to current and power |
| Photos and test notes | Supports production and after-sales review |
Release decision
Separate confirmed results, open questions, corrective actions and retest requirements. Release volume production only after the approved sample, specification, packaging and inspection points are aligned.
