EV charging cable selection starts with the complete charging path, not only a connector name. State the charger-side connector, vehicle-side connector, AC or DC mode, current, voltage, phase, cable length and target market before comparing models.
EV Charging Cable Selection Guide
1. Define the connector direction
Write the route as charger or wallbox → cable → vehicle inlet. Common AC directions include Type 2, J1772, NACS and GB/T. A physically matching plug does not prove that a vehicle and charging equipment will communicate correctly.
2. Confirm power, current and phase
Specify rated current, voltage, single-phase or three-phase use and the intended charging power. For portable EV chargers, also confirm the input plug and control-box functions. Do not infer an exact rating from a product family name.
3. Choose cable length and environment
Share the required length, bend and storage conditions, indoor or outdoor use, temperature range, protection expectations and strain-relief requirements. Project buyers should validate the complete mated assembly and not only the connector housing.
4. Match the destination market
State the country or region, vehicle examples, charger model, required labels, packaging language and certification or documentation expectations. These details affect the recommended model and sample plan.
