AC Charging Gun Cable vs Charging Cable vs Adapter
These terms are often mixed together in product searches, but they describe different purchase objects. Naming the object correctly helps a supplier quote the right model, termination and test plan.
AC charging gun cable
An AC charging gun cable is usually a connector-and-cable assembly used between EVSE or a wallbox and the vehicle. It may include a vehicle-side plug and an equipment-side open-wire or custom termination. Confirm connector role, pinout, current, phase, length and integration context.
EV charging cable
“Charging cable” is a broader term. It can mean a complete detachable cable with two plugs, an extension cable, a tethered wallbox cable or a project-specific harness. The supplier needs the complete charging path and both ends before selecting a model.
Charging adapter
An adapter changes the connector interface between a charger and a vehicle or between two charging ecosystems. It is not automatically a cable replacement and may involve communication, locking, current and vehicle eligibility questions.
